Chinese paper Cutting Preparation

I was really busy to struggling prepare Chinese paper cutting production during this Chinese New Year period.

 

Most of the time like rushing out to but the Chinese red paper and do the paper trimming in to size to prepare the paper set as per my template and to had cut them to meet the deadline.

Some artworks have to manually put in gold paint piece by piece.
I would say, art is tough career, but can't be help, I am an artist, I have to take it ;p

The Earlier Coming Chinese New Year in 2012

That will be many events activities and promotions during Chinese New Year period, especially the weeks before Chinese New Year.

The 2012's Chinese New Year was happened in a really early date, which at 23th January 2012 (first of Chinese New Year) instead of every years' about 4th-6th February for first day of Chinese New year.

Meanwhile, there were really less than a month for and Chinese New Year related commercial activities to be held. If look around around, you will noticed that on the 2nd day of the Christmas Day, you starting to hear many shopping mall playing Chinese New Year related theme songs and the decoration worker was rushing to put on Chinese New Year related decorations.

We only got about 21 days left for related Chinese New Year theme stuffs promotion since 2012's Chinese New Year Eve fall on 22nd January 2012. It became very tight schedule for all the related event set up.

Many event companies was really busy planning and preparing for Chinese New Year related event at least few weeks ago before Christmas Day I guests.

Scene at NTUC Super Market at Ang Mo Kio Hub

6 more days later will be Chinese New Year (27th Jan id Chinese New Year Eve), many people was rushing to buy their stuffs for Chinese New Year Celebrations, hence many supermarket was crowded with people.

I went NTUC Super Market at Ang Mo Kio Hub, this is one of the biggest NTUC Super Market in Singapore.That was so crowded almost every since last weekend. Nothing wrong with the crowded place, just do not like the attitude of many shoppers which believe they are the king or queen which have the priority park their trolley anyway, they believed they have the full priority to walk all the way; they no need to give way to anyone, but everyone must give way to them to walk.I force to walk to this ‘road’ which is madly ‘traffic jam’ to reach the rack that having the goods I wanted to buy. I have to wait the auntie couple in front me to move further then I can move a bit. Suddenly I felt my butt hit lightly by a trolley behind me, that was an auntie doing that, she wanted me to move ahead, what a rude way! I did not get angry, I just seen one of such Singaporean who acts in such a style, just like the scene commonly happened in the MRT.I grab the last pack of gingers! It sold out everyday before evening!Chinese New Year Cake! Which similar to Christmas’ log cake.

Chinese New Year is Near

Passing by Raffles City Shopping Centre and found that the decoration had been changed to Chinese New Year Theme.There are some stalls selling Chinese New Year stuffs by artist from China, one of the stall having a portrait artist, looks his business quiet good, thought because his drawing skill is good as well that’s why many people go to him.I have not passing by Vivo City yet, I guest down there should be having some Chinese New Years stalls running be China artist as well, last year was few portrait artists and caricaturists as well, thought this year could be the same.

I passing by Ang Mo Kio Central almost everyday, did not realized there are a road sign likr this! Haahaa!Ah! Saw Mr Lee Kim Kuan doing his large size calligraphy down here as per usual during Chinese New Year nearby period.

Chinese Seal Carving Demostration

Just met Mr Lee Boon Chai who do Chinese Seal Carving last week in the event , I think Chinese Seal Carving demonstration is also one of the good choice for cultural events like Chinese new Year related, besides doing seal carving, he also do calligraphy on Chinese Fan because Mr Lee owning an antique shop at Chinatown point and having Chinese fan for the events.You can find Mr Lee Boon Chai at: http://www.talentsdata.8m.com/001_leeboonchai.htm

Christmas Season and Chinese New Year 2009

You can see many places having Christmas decorations around the streets and shopping malls.Anyway, the decorations will be replaced by the coming next year Chinese New year decorations very soon once the Christmas day passed, because usually Chinese New Year fall on 4th- 6th on February, but next year 2009, the eve of Chinese New Year fall on 26th of January! There were some event companies check the items and date availabilities during next year’s Chinese New Year’s period.

Chinese New Year before Eve

People was busy doing last minute shopping for Chinese New Year celebrations, looks everyway which selling things was crowded with people.Anyway some stall was not crowd at all.Due to inflation, many thing prices was increased continuously, people will try their best to save money. A lot people will waiting for the last minute clearance sales.Ouch! My S$6.30 Kentucky fried chicken had been reduced size!

Doing event with made-up

During many years doing caricature or silhouette cutting for event, I seldom asked to do any special costume or make-up, I am a small fly, some more as guy, as long as looks neat and tidy and clean, will be ok.

If really need special costume, usually provided by the event company and no need to do any make-up.

A friend in 2005 asked me act as Chinese treasure god character in their Chinese new year event, they provide with costume and make-up, which was my first time having make-up in my whole event life.

Ouch! If was painful when the opera master do a treasure god make-up on my face. I don’t like the time he paint the eyeliner on my eyes, it was uncomfortable. Anyway, just take it as an experience lah. Heehee!
