Some Food I Ate

Went JB today and ate this Char Siew Rice at the street next to Pelangi Plaza.  Just realised it was very delicious! This is my first time I had my lunch at this stall. I like it because the Char Siew is juicy and not sort of dyed meat in red color and dry meat type as we usually ate in Singapore's food court or hawker centre. Of course if come with the fat part as well, for those do not like fat meat definitely won't like it.
Basically there were many other well known food stall/shops/restaurant at this street like the Bee Hoon Kueh, Jia Jia Dim Sum and E&Y Indian restaurant.

After check the internet, this stall which selling Char Siew rice is at :
55, Jalan Kuning 2, Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru.

You can't see the stall from the road because it blocked by other stall.
Saw this sort of electrical box device at Pelangi Plaza, near the traffic light area, found the shape of rusty area just like a dog in cartoon caricature style! Heehee!
This is what I talking about! Heehee!

Rainbow Calligrapher

Great that met Dorby Yip and Angela Yip from Hong Kong was back to Singapore doing event during this Chinese New Year period. Thought they will be back whenever having high demand on their unique famous Yip's rainbow calligraphy.

They usually using A5 size paper do write the rainbow calligraphy. So many China new immigrant who do event just copy their writing styles, inclusive those running business in Chinatown.

I heard they will be back to Hong Kong around 24 Feb.

Chinese paper Cutting Preparation

I was really busy to struggling prepare Chinese paper cutting production during this Chinese New Year period.

Most of the time like rushing out to but the Chinese red paper and do the paper trimming in to size to prepare the paper set as per my template and to had cut them to meet the deadline.
Some artworks have to manually put in gold paint piece by piece.
I would say, art is tough career, but can't be help, I am an artist, I have to take it ;p

Caricature for Dinner and Dance at Pan Pacific Hotel

Just completed a caricature fringe arts at The Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore for Chanel's annual dinner. As my usual drawing style: using 2 hands to draw, my trade mark in the event industry.
I had been doing such drawing style since 1990, I am the only person who draw using both hands in Singapore so far.I am not the best artist in the industry but as long I have a chance to do the show, always try my best to ensure my quality and quantities within the booking hours.
There are always better artist appeared every second, nobody can control the world, everyone learn from scratch, anyone every heard any baby born from hospital and start to draw already? Heehee! The world is fair enough ;p
I don't teach, so anyone said he or she is my student or partner that using both hand to draw, is copycat and fake artists. There are so many caricaturists in the market now since around 3-4 years ago.
So many caricaturists doing event in the market, unfortunately, each of their standards was very big different according clients and some event companies feedback. Basically, there are too many event companies using cheapest artist so they can earn more, it had been caused a lots of problem. Anyway, seems getting cheapest artist is the current trend!

It depend what kind of guests you going to entertain for your event, your choice to go for quality artist or go for cheapest artist, "just someone show face as a caricaturist will do lah"! All depend on your budget of course ;p

Some of my work.

Chinese Paper Cutting Preparation

After the peak period for dinner and dance in December, is time to prepare my Chinese new year theme item, which is Chinese Paper Cutting.
I remember in about 15 years ago, the artist who hired in the event, they just need to do some simple demo, the main resemblance of Chinese Paper Cutting just from the pre made artwork displayed from the artists. The most art piece to be giving away just limited to 1 or 2 pieces within the whole duration of the event booking. That was big different compared with nowadays, every items of event booking we must prepare certain amounts to be giving away during the event booking hour.
I would say, for event wise, only few people doing Chinese Paper Cutting in Singapore, because this item was really tedious and too time consuming to be produced, it just a seasonal art that having limited life time.
