I found the place was very nice and this park was built not long ago, based on the nice place, the space and the atmosphere, I believe that will be many events and product launched holding here. That was a hot day and sunny day, all the photos was taken under the strong sun. That was a hot day and sunny day, all the photos was taken under the strong sun. Thought this is a very good place to take photos! Bro you might be like it very much! But in my view, you come at day time is better, because can capture the bright and life colors of the various plants.

Look! Nice water garden!Feel the green!Transformer in the water?Nope! Just the mirror reflection of this building! Heehee!Didn't you see Frodo of 'Lord of the Ring' just passing by this bridge?or sitting under the tree? Some photographer taking photos for the bridal.

Mid Autumn Festival Event

Did 2 events today for two places during these few climax day of the seasonal “Mid Autumns Festival Celebrations”. Completed the Palmistry introduction at Limbang Shopping Centre at 6.45pm, then quickly rush to Senja Road Blk 630, Park area for another caricature booking at 7.00pm! That really ‘Kan Cheong’ (nervous) for me because as an event artist, never been allowed to be late! Luckily I managed to make it.! Phew! The event at Senja Blk 630 was quiet fun, the residence down there was friendly as I met in past events at this place, that was really great! In this event, the happier peoples were the children, they really enjoy carrying the lanterns and doing the candles lighting! So do the adults! My caricature ‘booth’ was always long queue! No chance for me to think about a relaxing job, haahaa! That was great to met Wong’s Dragon Bead Candy in the event as well.

Caricature Drawing, Caricaturists In Singapore

Not only me, have lots of the artists in Singapore believed the best full time Caricaturists was Jit of Portrait Workshop. If I say he is the longest caricaturists who open a shop doing caricature, portrait drawing and illustrations in full time, who can be deny that? Maybe Einstein or Eric Ng or Pak Ah Bee (the long hair guy at Clarke Quay last time before this place gets renovated) was doing full timing that longer then him.

Many peoples had copying his drawing style, lots people tried to break his standard; if he not the best, why up to today still lots people keep copying his style? Haahaa! If you do some research, besides the newspapers and related editorial caricaturist, no matter how they claim they are having their own style, end of the day it was looks almost the same.

I didn’t copy Jit style, maybe that’s why I still in the rank at number 999; haahaa! I salut Jit, one of my brother, he is real cool, he do his own drawing and did not simply copy people’s work nor blogging style and so fort.

Thought the illustration and caricature drawing market in Singapore was real small, another thing was the customers who order caricature drawing, cant’ really accept too contemporary drawing style, ‘must be looks alike’ is the golden rules here, unless you are doing it for editorial, that was different matter, that could be the reason why not much caricaturist can break this rules.

Because by end of the day, after taking so much effort to do the drawing, you also need to ensure you can collect the payment, not like some artists get reject and put the drawing in the shop yet owing framing fees from the framing shops.

Art could be very subjective, sometimes you had taken lots effort to draw the guest, yet they could tell you that the drawing totally not looks like them at all, every caricaturists in the world sure experienced it and facing it once in a while, not because I am the only people who face this before (although I am in ‘rank number 999’) haahaa! So I would not like to talk bad about other artists to higher their own image, because it is equally laughing at you self.

Caricature drawing

Drawing caricature for public was not an easy job. It was different from dinner and dance or those special occasion parties or events. The public was come from all levels of educated people, means not everyone appreciates or know your art, whether you are an junior art student or you are a senior professor with doctorate/ master degree in art etc, the person being drawn in public events could give you a bad comment without thinking who you are, unless you are an Caucasian, a very foreigner looks artists, then they will treat you in a different way, this is the real world in Singapore.

I like the Malay guests, in my caricature artist life, they are the best, because they always respect you, respect your art, local Chinese, other than those nice peoples, they will give bad comment you on the spot in front of you regardless they are well educated or not; at least this is common in Singapore as my personal experience.

Basically, any local caricaturist sure will experience the same thing before; they cannot deny it, not because my skill but is the artistic taste level of the person being drawn. Those caricaturists who laugh at me for this, they actually insulting themselves, because they can’t avoid the same thing as what it happened to me; my 16 years experiences in the event industry confirmed this.

A senior art lecture said I can’t even draw side view caricature after he viewed my event; ops! I am not narrowing minded as him, because majority guest do not know how their side view looks like, they can’t accept the side view caricature. I searched many caricaturists’ website, few artist do it in side view.

I do not do any “special effect” for the guest being drawn (like pull the face long or wide) because most of the people cannot accept it. Other caricaturists who laugh at me, end up also do the drawing without add in “special effect”, because of the pressure from the guests. This is not western country, people can’t really accept they caricature being drawn in a surprise way.
